Our home is currently up for sale (recently sold for the second time so fingers crossed this chain works out!) and I thought I’d share some of the photos we had taken for the listing since it’s looking so nice and tidy, alongside some of my favourite things about our home over the last 11 years. Most photos below by Renny Whitehead, the property photographer hired by our estate agent, Katherine Wagner, (shared with permission).

Our current house is a 4 bedroom half-tile hung modern house, built in 2007. I will admit we were getting rather desperate when we were house hunting, we had quite the deadline with twins on the way! Nik found this one after I’d given up flying down from Glasgow on weekends (morning sickness was hell!) I didn’t actually see it until we got the keys the day we moved in, but he had taken very detailed photos and videos of the house and area for me. We fell in love with the spacious rooms, given that many newbuilds feel more compact these days, and the view.

It’s so peaceful here and we see so much wildlife, especially on the squirrel highway!

We see a lot of tits, pigeons and other birds as well as foxes, deer and squirrels. Plus we hear owls and night and often spot bats at dusk.
We moved in at the end of summer 2014, around 2 months before the twins were born. We had some initial work done as quickly as we could before they arrived, not knowing whether they might come early! (I’ll be doing a separate post on the changes we made over the years very soon.)

The main thing we changed was opening up the kitchen into the dining room (more info in the next post) and changing the green wall to a more vibrant shade.

The living room has been painted twice and I adore it’s current deep teal green colour.

It was very beige when we moved in so we painted many rooms, some twice since my style has evolved a lot over the last 11 years here! These days I’m sneaking in as much colour and rainbows as I can get away with 😉

One of my favourite rooms is the spare bedroom which we had painted in Farrow & Ball “Hague Blue” which really makes the Sophie Abbott print pop and looks amazing with lots of Bluebellgray touches like the blind, bedding and wallpaper samples as art, plus my fun golden dino.

I plan to get that chair (from Costco in glasgow) re-covered in the new house, along with an antique chair we bought when we moved here. We had that one refurbished already but it’s in a creamy fabric and I want something more colourful now so I can have it as a feature in our new hall or maybe my dressing room!
The T-Rex below started life neon green before I spray painted it!

The master bed is a more subdued colour, nice and calm with the doors painted to match the walls, something I will definitely do again, it made SUCH a difference!

The twins’ room is where my love of rainbows truly started, I loved designing their colourful space and tweaking it over the years. Their new rooms will be very different, they’ve been ready for their own, more grown up spaces for a while. Kalyan is already squatting in the study upstairs while we wait to move!

And then of course, there’s my office where I can get away with as much colour as possible! The benefits of a rainbow brand 😉 I can’t wait to create my new (larger) office/craft room in the new house!

And as for that view I mentioned above, I’m REALLY going to miss the epic sunrises we see from our window…

Oh and then there was the time the aurora appeared above us!

I’m so glad I have all these photos to remember our home which has such a special place in our hearts. I will be sharing more memories of our time here together soon too. It’s been fun going through all my old photos and trying to pick out favourites!
And if all goes well, I cannot wait to share more about our new home which is utterly gorgeous!
