5 Foodie Faves – Bread

I discovered a new loaf today and loved it SO much I had to start a new series, 5 Foodie Faves! I love sharing my favourite things and, hopefully, getting some new recommendations too – so do leave me your comments below if you have any favourites you’d like to shout out! (I’ve also been meaning to share my favourite chilli sauces too so watch out for that one soon!)

So, I’m staring with bread and the best thing is, most of these are locally made by small independent businesses too! I love supporting local makers.

So, starting with the loaf that finally made me write this series, but in no particular order…

I spotted this one in my local farm shop at Oast Farm, Buxted and knew I had to try it immediately, I’ve actually had it for breakfast and lunch today and will definitely be sneaking a slice with dinner too! It is AMAZING! There’s a hint of spice within the bread itself, not just when you get a bite with a slice of pepper in it, and of course the rich cheesy goodness from the cheddar, yum!

It wasn’t too heavy and toasted very nicely – I usually like my toast cold (I hate when it goes soggy with melted butter) but this one is perfect hot and loaded with salty butter. Big thumbs up!!

This is one I found in Waitrose and treat myself sometimes for lunch at work. It’s overflowing with seeds which gives it an awesome crunch and the most wonderful flavour as they’re all toasted on the surface as well as adding texture throughout the slices. It’s super soft on day one but by day two I always toast it.

An old favourite, also purchased from Oast Farm in Buxted for our weekend family breakfasts, this one is brilliant toasted and another one I can tolerate hot – especially since a friend recommended we try it with honey, SO good!

A nice, dense loaf. We’ve tried the white, brown and garlic loaves as well as their baguettes and all are delicious and made with minimal, organic ingredients.

Brown Sourdough from Home Farm Bakery

This is my white bread of choice if I’m not having a sourdough (which is clearly a favourite!) Sometimes I just want a nice soft, white sliced bread for a good old ham sandwich. Oooh, or a crisp sandwich with lashings of butter, mmmmmm! This one is lovely and perfectly soft with a nice flavour and seeds for extra nutrition 😉

It’s the purple one FYI!

So those are my 5 favourite breads but the one we have most often is a good old 50/50 from either Warburton’s or Hovis.

Which is your go-to loaf and what’s your favourite for a special weekend brunch?
